Transport: London - Catalonia.
Trains are very important for people. People travel into the center of London by train, (the London Underground) every day.
There are another kind of train called the Docklands Light Railway. These are computer-controlled trains with no drivers.
The bus is another important kind of transport in London- London has now got double-length buses, 'bendy buses'.
The buses and taxis have got special lanes on the road.
People use lots of other forms of transport in London. For example: The boats on the River Thames, the taxis, the bicycles, the cars...
CATALONIA
In a small cities, the people travel by car or by motorbike when they go to the work. The children usually travel by bike when they go to the school.
In big cities, the people usually travel by car, by train by motorbike, or sometimes by taxi. Buses are not a good type of transport here, but sometimes people catch them when they go in a tour, when they visit the city...

Sports: Catalonia - Great Britain.
The most important sport in Britain is the football. It has got a very important league, the Premier league, with some famous teams, for example: Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal... Other popular sports are: Basketball, cricket, horse-racing, polo, tennis, rugby, netball, golf, table tennis...
CATALONIA
Football is the most important sport in Catalonia. It has got the most important team in the world at this moments, the FCBarcelona. It plays in the BBVA league, the first division in Spain.
Other popular sports are: Basketball, tennis, handball, 'la petanca', 'bitlles catalanes'...

SCOTLAND
Scotland is one of four main regions in Britain. Most of people in Scotland live in Glasgow and Edinburgh. In the north you can find the Atlantic ocean, in the south England , in the east Ireland and in the west the Atlantic ocean. Scotland has got a lot of whisky and tourism. The official language of Scotland is English. Scotland has got a very famous and important lake, the Loch Ness. This lake is important for the history of the monster called Ness.
Scotland has got an unusual traditions. Scottish men sometimes wear a kilt rather than trousers. Bagpipes is a traditional Scottish instrument.
CATALONIA
Catalonia is one of seventeen regions in Spain. Most people in Catalonia live in Madrid, Barcelona and el País Basc. In the north you can find Andorra and France, in the south el País Valencià, in the east Aragó and in the west the Mediterranean sea. The official language of Catalonia is català.
This region has got important places, for example: 'La Sagrada familia', 'la Casa Batlló', the lake in Banyoles, 'el Camp Nou' (the FCB stadium)... Catalonia has got an important and famous football team: FCBarcelona. This country has got a traditional dance, 'les Sardanes'.

Some people have medical insurance but most people can't afford it and rely on the National Health Service. The NHS has sent everybody in Britain a Self-Help Guide.
You can get a prescription from a doctor for medicine to cure you. Doctors work in surgeries or health centers.
The NHS also provides Walk-in Centres in more than 60 locations in Britain.
For accidents for example broken leg or emergencies for example a heart attack, you should go to a hospital which gas got a specific Accident and Emergencies department.
One of the most common alternatives treatments is the use of Chinese herbs - these are a natural medicine. Acupuncture and Osteopathy.
The best way to avoid getting ill is to have a healthy diet, get lots of exercise and take good care of yourself. You shouldn't then need to use the healthcare system at all!
Unit VIII - Computers.
60% of homes in Britain have got a PC.
For many young people, playing computer games is their favourite way of spending spare time.
A central computer will adjust the temperature, act as a burglar alarm and switch on lights ready for you to come back home.
Many homes have got lots of televisions and several computers.
In a survey, 44 per cent of young people between 11 and 16 said their PC was a trusted friend. Another survey found that people in Britain spend so much time on the phone, texting and reading e-mails.
